The GUI crashes reported by FXE will be fixed with the hotfix release coming ~tomorrow.

On monday there was an issue with a detector related PLC due to misconnection of one EtherCAT cable. The issue has been solved and it "just"

General remarks:


Stable beam only to be expected starting from 1.03. for SASE1 instruments commissioning
There is no guarantee for parasitic
beam delivery to the experiments. If it happens at all it  will most probably be during the last week of Feb. This has to be agreed on the fly

with the exception of one board, all boards in SASE1, SASE3, FXE, SPB and PPL have been successfully updated. All Timing boards are now running
firmware v1.24.0. The doocs-x2timer-server has also been updated in all CPUs; running version is 7.8.

The control room thinks that they will be able to very easily provide us the desired parameters for commissioning  the FXE EXP Hutch this coming

The radiation test in SASE1 could not take place yesterday since the machine was not able to deliver proper light intensity with
30 bunches. Another tentative is happening now.

Desired parameters where reached for radiation measurments of the SPB OPT and SPB EXP hutches. Radiaiton could not be detected inside the hutch with

the problem with the fast valves XTD9 tripping randomly is still not fully understood but we exchanged the controllers for both valves and they
now seem to be stable. The valves are set back to active mode again with 1*10^-6 mbar trigger level while vacuum pressure at the sensors is around 1*10^-8

During the first K-Mono test with Karabo on Friday the first goniometer THETA1 (Elmo controller) moved beyond the CW limit switch and stopped  at
the CCW switch. So the goniometer was trapped between both switches with a movement range of a few degrees. Movement of encoder and motor were opposite.
This behaviour is not understood and under investigation.

Accelerator was down all weekend due to cold compressors that were damaged in conjunction with the power outage on Friday

Afterwards SASE tuning was done and the beam should be back in the hutches some time today. Beam operation will continue this week with very low intensity.

We got the beam to the end of XTD9 onto the SPB screen and FXE Pop-in (the SPB pop-in does not work).
Everything looks quite good and the beam is quite stable.
Lasing photon engery is around 6.2 keV and 200-300 mJ per pulse.

Both SASE1 XGMs (in XTD2 and XTD9) are now again in the Vacuum Control Loop, their vacuum being controlled by Beckhoff/karabo. This works fine.
Therefore: DO NOT FOOL AROUND WITH THE VACUUM LOOP !
Since we all cannot enter the tunnel XTD2 in the next two days, it's agreed that the Vacuum Loop is NOT going to be touched at all, since

Both XGMs were and are on manual control (but the remote cables into the turbo pump controllers remained plugged in as usual) = both XGMs are "out
of the VAC loop". 

In XTD2, I saw around 13h that both turbos were off (0 Hz) and the pressure was at 10E-4 mbar !

I have deployed the Karabo master (the HEAD of our development) in the control network for the Vacuum loop device server.
During last weeks Karabo was not able to cope with the data coming from the PLC for this loop (our biggest to date)

Many controllers were found to have incorrect settings. All pumps in XTD2 now respond and give pressure readings. There remains the problem that
the PLC is looking for the wrong channel in the case where 2 pumps are connected to one controller (Is 1 & 3 and PLC looks for 1 & 2). J. Eidam

Today Denis has to make some changes in the Vacuum and Motion hardware loop, therefore they would be down some time.

This is the current (w5) progress at DESY concerning the analysis of the serious XGM resistor issue (summary; a detailed report by DESY is available):

    The new “pulser test”  was verified at an operational XGMD at FLASH. The test method is (unfortuately) OK. This means that
the test results with issues from last week on all our XGMs are REAL.
    25% of all resistors in XBPMs affected, 0% of resistors in HAMPs affected,

The Vacuum Controls Commissioning Task Force initially helped to get the vacuum components extending from the gate valve at 2678 m to the gate valve
at 2730 m in XTD2. This comprised the valves and pumps and the associated vacuum interlock logic. The necessary components were all installed and locally
tested. As the next step the PLC firmware for the control of these devices was generated including the interlock logic. Finally the system was connected

 I reproduced the behaviour of the PLC on beckhoffSim. This reproduces the same behaviour seen in the tunnel devices (devices hang).
Implemented the fix and verified the correct behaviour with beckhoffSim.
Fixes will be verified next Monday with the tunnel system.
