  • Planned for the next 2 weeks
    • AGIPD commissioning and tests. DET group heavily involved.
    • Screens are being installed and commisisoned in the hutch.
    • CSS component commissioning. AE involved and informed.
    • Loop 14 (Jungfrau) is needed for next week to start the commissioning. AE and EET main players for now. Issues are now Fuses boxes delivery (AE) and ITDM connections ready (CAT cables measurements not compliant with XFEL standard, AV/ITDM are trying to solve the issue with the companies)
  • CRL implementation in the hutch will happen in April. AE and EET involved.

FXE

SQS

  • REMI chamber was installed. Currently vacuum connections are being done and tests have to be performed (next couple of days)
  • CYoungmann is commissioning the Mpots.
  • The chain digitizers-triggers-software is being commissioned to allow online analysis. AE, CAS required and involved.
  • New requirement document will be submitted today for a new slit system component (not for this SD).
  • exhaust line for explosive gases has not been tested so far and no information is available to SQS. Urgent. SRP should comment.

SCS

  • PLCs have been all installed. Firmware deployment has to be pushed. AE is on it.
  • For the microscope a in-house fast solution has been put in place.
  • Concerning the smaract stages a technician is today here. If anybody is interested, please contact JTDelitz.
  • Detector group is working on the fastCCD.

MID

  • Julabo chiller came back from repair and it is being connected back and tested in this days.
  • Issue with the remote control of the ion pumps. It is not possible to switch on and off the pumps remotely due to the fact that a wrong terminal was used . It seems this was also the same issue in SASE1 and 3. AE and EET are on it to fix it and update the doucumentation. 
  • Fa. Schulz did not manage to pull all the MID EXP cables by Tue afternoon as requested. Fine tuning of whoch cables are needed to start the loop commissioning and whoch ones can be postponed has to be done and driven by EET/MID (M. Flade/JHallman)
  • On Monday afternoon (17:00) a power cut caused by works on the SASE emergency power off caused the PLC to be switched off and additioanl efforts to bring them on again. This intervention was not known to MID and not planned in the winter schutdown list of activities. Technical Services is/will be reminded that proper communication is needed.

HED

  • Loop 2 needed for commissioning. Should be ready this week. Modules for the attenuator are expected to be delivered today/tomorrow. AE required and on it.
  • Tomorrow the commisisoning of the monochromator in the tunnel and CRL in the optics hutch will start.

 

OPT Lasers

  • LOPA is being  commisisoned in SASE1. Test by the end of the week. No special support required.
  • In SASE3 commisioning isd ongoing and there are no concerns about having the laser ready in July
  • In SASE2 commissioning of the seeder started.
  • Issue with the door is being discussed with TS.

XRO

 

  • In SASE3 additional safety shutters issue: Hardware will be ready by middle of Feb. On the 24 and 25. the installation and the modification of the EPS loop should take place if D3, SRP agree on the change request proposed by HS and MD. AE is involved and has allocated resources. It is not clear to whoch extent CAS is involved. This should be clarified, also for proper CAS resourced allocation.
  • For this friday SRP schedule a test of the GATT. SQS/SCS informed and part of the activity.
  • Durng the installation of mirrors for SASE3 with InGa an issue occured. While pumping down (slowly) foam was generated and it required baking of the system to be able to pump it and bring it to ion pumps vacuum level. Tests are needed to finalize the proper procedure. In general, all the instruments dealing with mirrors should contact XRO (M.Vannoni) for proper venting and pumping down of the system to avoid surprises.

  • DESY will reboot the timing system next monday. BF circulated a mail about that.

  • Ph. II cables should be done today (should have been completed already last week). JH is discussing after the meeting with AE to see when Loop 10 can be expected to run and will then inform CAS about updated timeline.
  • Meeting about the status of the SDL project in MID is planned for today at 14:30. All interested groups have been invited.
  • There was a power cut in MID EXP/OPT this morning. Not clear why. Will be investigated.
  • Ion pumps remote ON/OFF control: AE is performing some tests. as soon as thet are over AE will make a  statement and suggest how to proceed.

HED

  • Leak in the chiller of the hirex mono. Cooling system is not needed urgently (it seems). The fix will not happen in this SD.
  • Commissioning of ATT starts tomorrow.
  • Meeting on wednesday to finalize the list of things to be done to the XTD monos before the closing of XTD6 (Thu.)

It was supposed to happen on Monday, but Fa. Bohn had problems with the measuring device. PSPO tries to apply pressure and get it done asap. In parallel AE will communicate to ITDM the number of ports required to prepare a temporary connection between D.22/D.23.
  • CRL implementation in the hutch will happen in April. AE and EET involved.

  • MCP motor in SA1 and 3 does not retract when the limit switch is hit. The update can be done during the next short shutdown. For now, the AE OCD knows the issue and knows how to act on the motors if an issue occurs.
  • Ion pumps remote ON/OFF control: AE is performing some test to see whether once could drive the pumps via serial port w/o updating the loops. Interlocks do not switch the pumps off, it is rather the opposite (no problem in using serial communication then). Once AE finalizes the solution, the IP address of the devices and support will be given to CAS to set up the controls.

  • Last Thursday an alarm signal was heard from the control room and only entering the hutch it was realized that an additional radiation sensor was triggered, maybe due to a spike. The procedure and actual usefulness of the device should be commented on by SRP.
  • An additional beamstop will be installed otday in the hutch. This requires to OGT3 to be moved.
  • Performance issue with the digitizers when all 3 of them are used in parallel. AE on it.

  • Beam is back on Wed. night.
  • Today Loop 7 and 9 will be updated. Loop 7 includes the fast ccd motors and will be tested after update.

  • Pulses for SASE3 has been delayed, but it will be no issue for the FastCCD.

  • Issue with the remote control of the ion pumps. It is not possible to switch on and off the pumps remotely due to the fact that a wrong terminal was used . It seems this was also the same issue in SASE1 and 3. AE and EET are on it to fix it and update the doucumentation. ==> AE needs to perform a test at MID before deploying the solution. Since there are other priorities now the test has not happened yet.
  • An automatic chain of communicaton is needed (TS?) to notify relevant peopole when the power is down. ==> UBr will follow up the automatic notification setup.
  • Issue with the silicon oil leaks. Even though the system was testes with LN2 up to 5 bar. For now it is not  a showstopper but it needs to be addressed.

HED

  • Si bounce monochromators - Chiller leaks. Will be repaired in the next shutdown.
  • hirex mono water connections will be reworked in March.
  • Leak in the cooling unit of the racks in A.27 was repaired on site. (TS+External company)

AE would like to get as many info as possible in advance to start preparing the loop update. According to MDommach NJardon is supposed to be already in the loop.
  • M2 in SASE3 is commissioned and being fine tuned by the instruments.
  • There was a DAQ issue concerning the reading of imagers. Should be solved accordina to ITDM, has to be checked and confirmed by XRO.
  • CAS is fixing some issue on the middle layer for the slit gap controls.

Between 7 and 9 keV the air is absorbing mostly of the light and there are no concerns. For energies above 7 keV the transmission increases. In order to allow operation the following requirements were set: 4W max power. B4C in front of the beamstop (efficiency grows with energy in this range)
  • The self rescue training is supposed to become part of the access requirement in the DACHS system for the tunnel. This caused a lot of concerns during the meeting (visitors? Access to components only in the very firrt part of the tunnel ). PSPO will discuss with SRP .

CAS

  • Who is responsible for the bunch pattern recording for the different instruments? CAS will clarify with ITDM and AE. ==> Ongoing.
  • Karabo 2.4.0 test ongoing
  • 2.3.7. Hotfix available today (pipieline in middle layer devices has been optimized). To be decided by the instr. whether to install it or not. Recommended.
  • HED kick off meeting for preparation for users has to happen.
  • XGMs: DOOCS was updated without agreement with CAS and this lead to problems with the controls. In this condition CAS can give only limited support , because they do not know excactly what was deployed and whoch tests were done. In general, this goes against the good practice rule of not updating stuff during the beamtime.

SRP

  • The self rescue training is supposed to become part of the access requirement in the DACHS system for the tunnel. This caused a lot of concerns during the meeting (visitors? Access to components only in the very firrt part of the tunnel ). PSPO will discuss with SRP .==> SRP is trying to find a way to minimize the impact of this training on the XFEL employees. Discussion with DESY needed. ==> The implementation date is the 01.05. The legal requirements are quite strict. SRP is trying to find a solution with DESY (proper training every 3 yrs + yearly updates? to be seen). Advice from SRP is to get the training. SScherz can support booking the trainings.
  • HED Radiation interlock issues: no agreement yet to get beam permission. Another meeting is planned for tomorrow (SRP chairs).==> Solved
  • EUPs: Procedures for the electrical safety trainings and appointments are being clarified (UB, TH, WUS) ==> 2 training per week (in german) are planned for KW 13,14,15. SRP and TS will approach the GLeaders to decide who has to take the trainig first in the different groups. PGessler and SHauff point out that it is not clear whether the policy is olready in place or not. THaas mentioned that we are still in the transition phase and a presentation was given in thre STGL meeting and it was responsibility of the GLs to inform the group members. TH will send AV the material that will be circulated to the readiness mailing list and  in this elog ElectricalSafety.pdf.
  • SArslan has been appointed Safety responsible for the Exp. Hall. Access for XFEL employees will be granted by him from now on and not anymore by AViolante and GWellenreuther

  • No major issues reported
  • Motors in Loop 14 have been tested and problems with the motion sign and encoder were found. AE/EET on it.

  • Issue with digitizers not working was found this morning and was reported solved during the meeting by CAS.
  • 2 CRDs for the pn CCDs are coming. Once they are there it has to be seen how to schedule the design, production of PLCs, as well as of cables.

  • It is reported by CY that, in order to advance with the Epix readiness, would be beneficial if AE and EETF could accelerate the power system work BKF 467 crate completion (with Bernard's latest change request) plus patch-panel planning Eplan update this would be much appreciated. MFlade reports the request to his group.
  • Issues with Smaract stages cables. Fixed.

HED

  • Si mono in XTD6 had problems with the pitch motor whoch does not work anymore. XTD6 was opened yesterday for intervention and the system was pumping overninght. Interlock modified not to stop operation during the night for MID. This morning ZZ foreseen to complete the intervention.
  • Firmware for Loops 5 and 7 ready. KS/EET are checking whether all the cables for loop 5 have been installed. When they are, AE will be notified to switch on the loop. Same for loop 7. After the meetgin with compkany Schulz it was said that all the priority 1 cables (set by HED) will be installed by 05.04.
  • XGM/Pulse picker alignment has to be checked. On monday AE will have a look.

  • Control of personal interlock shutters will be possible through one computer for each instruments control room. PCs have been defined. Implementation can be ready by next week.

  • GW asks the intruments to check the shutdown planning, especially for the cases in which the instruments are requested as support groups (MPS?). If there a re problems or something does not make sense, please notify PSPO.
