ITDM Admin | General | Information | running jdd panels in control rooms | On all PCs in the control rooms including BKR and also on the exflgateway there is a new version of jddd installed which is working with openjdk-11.
It is worth to mention that the old javaws from old oracle java 8 is deprecated and it is not recommended running jddd panels using old way, like
javaws jddd-run.jnlp
The recommended way, is to run it on the control PC (if you are in the control room), you don't need to login to exflgateway and start it there anymore, although this is also possible.
To start a svn repository selection window just run
jddd-run
To start a panel of a given name from http repository just type for instance
jddd-run -http XFELMainTaskbar.xml
To start a panel from svn repository just type for instance
jddd-run -file XFELMainTaskbar.xml
In case of question contact it-support@xfel.eu

ITDM Admin | General | Information | Re: running jdd panels in control rooms | Regarding the recent announcements from doocs/jddd people about running jddd application I post here a short summary:
- running jddd with oracle java 8 via java webstart will be no longer possible as of 10.07.19
- on all control PCs in the instruments control rooms, BKR and exflgateway the new jddd was already in use since March, as described in the previous entry
- today the jddd was updated to version 2.12.10-2, which includes openjdk-12 (control PCs will be automatically updated during night)
On Windows 10 you can install Jddd using Software Shop (Netinstall).
Best,
Janusz

MID
- Commissioning the cryomanipulator. Had to use a couple of work arounds in order to align it with the beam (travel range issues it appears).
- The AGIPD Julabo chiller failed on Saturday, it has to be sent in. Meetings this mornings should clarify what other options remain to support the user experiments as planned.

Gerd Wellenreuther | General | Information | Minutes of the Technical integration meeting 14.08.2019 | XO
- On Monday at around 12:20 there was a power glitch at least in Hamburg, affecting the machine.
- In this cause, the startup was delayed due to a missing signal from the Vacuum EPS-MPS-interface. The signal had to be manually enabled again.
- Tuning is estimated to take until 14:00 today.
- In the wake of such events a lot of communication about the machine status is happening. In the future, XO will ensure the readiness mailing list will be updated, too. In this respect, P. Gessler suggested to rethink / rename the multitude of mailing lists inherited from the construction phase.
FXE
- There are concerns about the replacement of the simple motor with the MC2 library, in particular about whether all functionalities will still be available (e.g. step-up/down). According to EEE this should be okay. CAS has already release the new library for testing.
SPB/SFX
- Hexapods are being integrated. ==> This was rescheduled due to the issues with hexapods at HED and MID. Currently, there is no dire need to integrate the SPB/SFX hexapod, it can be run from TwinCAT.
SCS
- There is an issue with the main sample stage. SCS and SEC are working on it, will continue with commissioning the instrument.
SQS
- Loop 14 will be updated today.
MID
- DPS turbo pump issue. A software workaround exists. The problem is that the used controller has not been commissioned firmwarewise before. This is not a showstopper and wil be addressed later. ==> The cabling is done differently. EEE is testing the device + firmware.
HED
- Loop 13 has been commissioned.
Optical lasers
VAC
XRO
- There was an issue with a drift of the HED mirror. As a consequence, VAC and XRO have switched of the mirror cooling. HED and MID should report about the change of the situation.

- An e-mail was sent yesterday about the relaxation of restrictions on the control network.
- From now on, the XO integration meeting series will happen on Monday and Wednesday at 09:30 and Friday at 11:30.
- These meetings serve two purposes: 1.exchange of information for the re-start phase, and 2. Controls issues.
- This procedure is set to help the re-start of activities coming from the super-restricted operation mode.
- Groups are asked to send by every Friday to controls-integration@xfel.eu a summary of activities to be carried out during the following week regarding the Control
Network.
This helps CTRL and XO to prepare and coordinate the full scope of activities while having an overview on actions that require large scale resources.
- For example, groups and staff who move motors have to be cautious, once reduced number of people will have access to debug devices in case they get stuck.
- This process could be reviewed in the course of next weeks.
CTRL:

Frederik Wolff-Fabris | General | Information | Notes XO Integration Meeting 24.04.2020 | Relaxation control network:
- CTRL and XO remind the groups to submit the planned activities on e.g. scenes, projects, until Fridays.
- For next week case: please limit any hardware change. Reason is the current limitation on the physical presence of staff.
Groups will support only emergency and priority tasks. From May 4th the situation will be different.
- However, we do not want to stop any progress on activities. This also includes work on Karabo that affects critical work like VAC in tunnels.
Tunnel access for the coming weeks:
- A scheduling plan will be made due to the restrictions of allowed people working on tunnel at the same time.
Plan will be made in order to respect safety rules and minimize number of people working in tunnels.
- Tunnel access will be a first agenda point from next week.
General:
- For next meetings, we will continue with the small report from the support and instrument groups.
- Tasks to happen in the hutches are decided by the groups. XO/PMO plan tasks in tunnels.
- We encourage groups to start as earlier as May 4th the tasks which were originally planned to be conducted during the summer shutdown.
If it needs tunnel access, then one must respect the coming schedule.
- XO is looking together with Desy on all tunnel activities. A schedule is being prepared and will be communicated to the groups as soon as possible.
- In case of delay of activities due to e.g. excess of people in tunnel, prioritization will be made together with XO and Desy. |
