- Quite successful beam usage last week.
- Issues with fast ADC devices not working until Wednesday. It worked for 24hs and then had to be restarted again and came out with wrong settings.

- Safety problem with magnet interlock in one door: a loose screw was fixed (for the time beam).
- Issue with digitizer: SQS will clarify with CTRL.
- Recheck calibration of monochromator (needs cameras looking to the motor): it seems that the camera has to be discussed with XRO.
Martin D. says that currently Maurizio V. is in the tunnel and SQS shall contact for the possibility of a quick fix now.
- Zunaira A. says that if beam shutter closes without apparent reason: it can be related to emergency off, panic switch, air box or the maglock. It happens 3 times on the same day. If this happens again,
it may trip the entire accelerator.
People in safety group or laser interlock are responsible for fixing the maglocks. A. Galler asks Zunaira A. to send an e-mail to xo-info@xfel.eu.
Alberto Defanis says that Eric B. has fixed. Zunaira comments that this fix was momentarily for the weekend. Further discussion will follow. |

- Cooling water situation at XHQ: initially there is no cooling water until possibly 13.12. To the best of XO knowledge all groups are informed. If this is not the case please contact XO.

- Jorg H. asks on the safety trainings for employees (relates to the sexual harassment traning from an e-mail of Sven M. / Desy this morning).
Sandra Plett comments that this is not mandatory to XFEL colleagues but it will be clarified today via an e-mail. The Basic training and hygiene trainings are the ones mandatory to all the staff.

- As PRC, Jan G. reports that on Saturday morning no beam permission at the North branch happened. An issue with XTD2 solid attenuator vacuum happened and together with VAC-OCD the threshold was changed
to allow continuation of beam delivery. A ZZ will be needed today to fix the vacuum leak;
On Sunday around 09:20 an issue with accelerator quadrupole magnet in A21 caused downtime initially until noon (SA2) and around 16:00 (North branch); also D3 had to come onsite to reset burn through
monitors in the aftermath.

- XO thanks the instruments for posting in the Operations e-log.
- Jan G. says calorimeter measurements last Friday on HED hutch took place in order to measure transmission of pulse energy in the hutch and compare with tunnel HED-XGM.
It is found a factor 2 loss - half beam intensity arriving at the end of the hutch.
- Lorenz K. says that the Barista machine triggered a fire alarm. TN did a check and may be caused by the self-cleaning program of the machine by producing enough steam.
- Call for tasks to be carried on next Winter maintenance period were sent out to the are sent out via e-mail last Friday. Groups shall submit one group list by 30.09.2021.
CTRL:
- From tomorrow morning all the mails sent to the "controls integration" ticketing service will be offline due to an update. Please contact DOC instead. An e-mail will be sent as soon as the service is

- DESY/MXL has started ramping up the Gun, powering and testing the Magnets and phasing the RF stations.

Origin for the error in SA1 is not understood and difficult to find.
- All Attenuators in SA1 were moved 1mm up to help reaching an area without damage.
LAS:
- AMPHOS shutter issue over the weekend: the ad-hoc procedure is no longer in place and the issue is fixed.
UNSYS:
- Motor and electronics in PS SA3/cell12 were exchanged yesterday.

General Announcement:
- Operation this week consists in a Facility Development week. Many FDs are scheduled and if you plan any activity that may interfere in tunnels please contact either XO or the PRC.
- As DRC Patrick Gessler informs there is no DOC this week and all calls will be handled by him who then coordinate with respective DATA OCDs and groups.

- Uncovered a situation last week: old data saved by DAQ (HED) is now understood and DA will apply a fix.

- Remind the deployment of ADQ in all setups apart of SQS today before lunch time.

- All fine with VAC; a short interruption on Friday in SA1 happened due to some tests with electronics. To be redone possible today.
- As PRC Martin D. reports a 5-6 hours downtime on night to Saturday due to issues with interlocks at the Injectors. It was fixed by Desy colleagues.

General Announcement:
- A. Galler shows at the TTFinfo schedule where to find information for operation calendars.
- A. Silenzi inform that the Jour-Fixe takes place and instruments shall be present to inform on needed requests to DRC/DOC.
- As PRC, Harald Sinn informs the agreed RF window that was set on Friday was reversed on Saturday. Do not hesitate in contacting the PRC in such situations.

1. Issue with PP-laser setup at FXE/Mono in tunnels - to be followed by PLC team;

- Performing ZZ and breaking interlock in XTD10.

- Jan G. says chamber for calorimeter and laser power meter are being installed in SPB hutch today.

- Interlock tests shall start tomorrow 07.01. In case of questions please do not hesitate in contacting XO.
- Eric Boyd says on Wednesday 10AM two hutches shall be interlocked for the tests (FXE exp. Hutch and MID optical hutch) for ~15 minutes. It shall work for both instruments.
- A. Silenzi reminds that a tentative schedule for the bring-up days was sent to the instruments and a feedback is expected to be returned by the end of today.

General Announcement:
- Due to work restrictions, some of shutdown activities will not end as planned in time. This leads to a prolongation of the start-up phase starting next week. It means re-start of Accelerator and South branch will be delayed by 2-4 days while the North branch by about 1 week.
- The first 2 weeks of X-Ray delivery (2.2-15.2) will most likely be affected and photon delivery cannot be guaranteed into all beam-lines at all days. Some flexibility in planning for the commissioning tasks is expected. A detailed schedule for an upcoming week will be available on the week before, latest on Friday.
- Sara C. asks if tunnel access is allowed during this week. F. Wolff-Fabris understands tunnels still can be accessed this week apart of Covid regulations (in the context of tunnel maintenance tasks that have to be performed while tunnels are open). T. Tschentscher says the understanding is from Robert F. guidelines e-mail are still valid for this week and really important tasks may be conducted – an e-mail to Robert and Nicole pointing the task with the need of access could be sent. Steve A. reported from today’s Covid taskforce meeting that the regulations of last corona email are still valid - if there are any question send an email to health@xfel.eu.

General Announcement:
- Dec.3rd power an drinking water maintenance: many thanks to TS and MKK groups for their efforts - tasks accomplished without any harm by lunch time (4 hs earlier than originally planned).
- Unfortunately an action by another Desy group triggered radiation protection in instrument areas. This action was not announced to XO.
Please inform XO if you encounter any damaged device. An 8D report will be prepared on this incident.
- PLCs and Karabo will be ramped up; Office network was available all time; Drinking water is already available.
- Zunaira A. says that an e-mail is usually sent to a list of persons. A. Galler says that this time we do not know if someone was informed.
- J. Szuba says only in SA1 rack rooms were out of power.
- Tobias Clever inform that every device can be switched on again.
CTRL:
- Start bringing up Karabo topics as soon as control machines are available.
