6. In case of questions please contact xo-planning@xfel.eu
- As PRC, Jan G. mentions a full report for the weekend events is available at the Operations e-log:
1. events on Saturday limited SA1 and SA3 to a max of 30 bunches combined; caused by communication failure by the EPS - partially solved on Saturday but happened again on Sunday afternoon.
EPS loop was solved by replacing a communication terminal; The MOV loop relates to a terminal seemed to be burned (redundancy was working) – this needs to be worked on Tuesday's ZZ.
Limitation of 30 bunches came as communication was lost. Recovered after the work on Saturday and Sunday.
2. Broken bridges Karabo-Doocs went down on Friday evening: not caused a beam downtime but photon devices could not be seen at DOOCS.
A Desy CPU at the injector building failed and Tim Wilksen intervene to restore the bridge and will follow-up.
3. SRA slits and Filter are locked now until the ZZ on Tuesday or the WMP.

General Announcement:
- An e-mail was sent to "xo-info" mailing list concerning the cooling water maintenance scheduled for one week starting on Dec. 6th.
More information will be sent by the end of this week and if you have any concerns, please contact us at xo-planning@xfel.eu.
CTRL:
- Shimadzu camera at SPB to be followed up; Also, the pop-up motor at HED needs a feedback.
- Related to DRC: on Friday SQS was using the bunch patter server and the machine server was going back to zero pulses. Cause was another Karabo device at SCS topic which was working / forgotten and was
setting bunches to zero.
Important is that none was knowing this was running. Follow up with XO for new procedures.
DA:
- Nothing major to report.
EEE:
- PLC side: backlash 2 step compensation successfully tested.
- Cabling at FXE had some troubles and today there will be a recheck.
VAC:
- Friday incident with Interlock on SA3 (faulty gauge at GATT): reason is known and was communicated to the involved parts. Long term plan to mitigate is in place.
XPD:
- Involved at high energy tests in SA1 and SA2; SA1 worked well delivering beam at SPB; SA2 had 300uJ in XTD1 but a high intensity at HED was not achieved. On Sunday HED colleagues did some tests;
Calorimeter did not see beam.
- Imagers YAG imagers could see the beam at the end of HED station. YAG is not too bad at these high energies (only factor 2x less). Diamond is not suitable as one needs to integrate lot of pulses to get
signal.
- Upgrade on Imagers together with Andrea Parenti is already concluded, tested and shall be working fine. Some Karabo devices had to be restarted in SA1, SA2 and SA3. In case of issue, please contact
Andrea Parenti.
DET:
- DSSC activities with DEPFET ladder measurements at SQS went well; happy with acquired data.
ITDM:
- Nothing to report.
XRO:
- SA1 re-alignment of mirror was not immediately possible and therefore done in several attempts. Started from none position but went well at the end.
- In SA2 re-alignment was not possible (settings of mirrors not ideal and therefore drop of beam intensity); In future a second attempt shall be made with the lessons learned. In SA1 went well.
- SA3 activities went well without problems.
LAS:
- From SQS high energy fluctuations were seen at PP-L and fixed after switching to another setting.
UNSYS:
- Motor of monochromator of chicane 2 / SA2: remotely action did not recover it. Access is needed. Suren K. needs a 2-3 hours of access (realistic time) and there is no guarantee it will work.
SPB:
- Got beam at 24keV.
- On Saturday a problem with camera Shimadzu not communicating to PLC was solved.
- Beam drift at downstream of SA1 (mm order) was seen.
FXE:
- Preparing for Users this week.
- Work with cabling ongoing.
MID:

- Two severe power glitches happened on the weekend (SAT and SUN around 7AM). We thank all colleagues that were in shift, OCD or volunteered to help assessing the situation and restoring their operation
ability.
- The presentation of the Winter Maintenance planning period is postponed due to time issues.
- Janusz S. reminds on cyber security: tomorrow the next step to secure Zimbra mail client takes place. A detailed e-mail will be sent.
- XO will create a report on the power issues.
CTRL:
- Issues with power glitch: restoring parameters, Karabo, SEPS, SA2 started from scratch.
DA:
- Nothing to report; end of chain regarding the power issues.
EEE:
- Same issues with power.
- Will follow up the SCS train ID.
VAC:
- No effect on VAC; no access to SA2 then it was blind / no Karabo, but at the end was fine.
- Issue with HED and MID Monochromator - to be investigated. Access is needed today.
XPD:
- As PRC Jan thanks all people who helped to restore SA and SUN (two power glitches around 7AM); Also Desy/MKK confirmed that machines were briefly affected. EuXFEL accelerator recovered quickly.
- Consequences on SAT: 1. Power went away of whole SA3 area; 2. Tunnels mostly not affected but water cooling pumps were switched OFF (affecting also balcony rooms).
One auxiliary pump did not turned ON and several hours later (10-11AM this was too hot) and brought down services. SA2 tunnel cooling water temperature raised but on SUN it was faster to act/recover (MKK;
30mins).
- XGM at XTD6 went down.
- MKK does not see the temperature but only humidity. To be implemented in the coming days.
- SA2 Karabo totally down.
- Interlocks went down (EEE, D3, SRP) and had to unblock radiation alarms. A Desy mTCA crate went down and had to be manually power cycled (due to cooling water lack at balcony room).
- PP-laser in SA3 went down. SA3 experiment at SCS was cancelled at the point.
DET:
- No specific feedback for DET; shall be OK.
- Broker pile up was not fully understood. SA2 was restarted and back to normal; MID restarted yesterday and will get in touch with them.
ITDM:
- Cooling issue: discovered by alarm (Kimon who informed MKK); it needs a better procedure to inform MKK.
- After 30 mins called from MKK saying T was going down, but due to open doors.
- Steffen H. says a report has to be done with goal oriented to avoid this in future.
XRO:
- Looking into systems: in tunnels, if power is OFF then mean cooling shall be OFF. Cameras do not work remotely (connection to servers; only one is accessible).
LAS:
- SA3 is down: problems with main amplifier;
- Checking for damage after second power glitch.
UNSYS:
- All fine.
SPB:
- Nothing to report. User got data.
FXE:
- SA1 was also affected by power glitch (interlock crashed): had to be reset by D3; AIBS went to error and be reset by DOC.m
- Prevented continued with user (lost 6+4 hours of beamtime). User went well and collected data.
- On Saturday the AMPHOS laser broke down in FXE. SRP and Management took measure to bypass. Not sure if caused by electricity. To be followed up this week.
MID:
- Nothing to report. Request: in such severe power glitches an e-mail to MID has also to be sent.
HED:
- Could recover after SA2 Karabo broke down. Recovery faster than expected.
- Continued with user program. Data was successful.
SCS:
- Stopped running experiment.
- Interlock problem with laser helped by Pouneh (thanks!).
SQS:

XPD:
- XGM in SCS being offline due to surge of pressure. This was informed by e-mail from SCS last night; interlock tripped due to high-voltage. XPD checked and put back during the night.
