Dear all,

I have received a request from Konstantin Sukharnikov to break the Motion loop in XTD2 from Rack 1.5 in order to do checks in the CRLs. So you will loose communication with almost the whole Motion loop in SASE1. I will let you know when they are finished.

Thank you,

  324   10 Jul 2017, 14:35 Wolfgang FreundXTD2InformationK-Mono control

During the first K-Mono test with Karabo on Friday the first goniometer THETA1 (Elmo controller) moved beyond the CW limit switch and stopped  at the CCW switch. So the goniometer was trapped between both switches with a movement range of a few degrees. Movement of encoder and motor were opposite. This behaviour is not understood and under investigation.

Now the goniometer is back within the nominal range and movement of motor and encoder reading is consistent. CCW limit switch at 117.5° / CW limit switch at ~182°.

  435   14 Dec 2017, 09:12 Lewis BatchelorXTD2InformationFXE Collimating CRL

The LENS_3X limit switch (switched when driving towards the chamber center) is broken and must be replaced, hence further work is required on the next JJ visit 9/10 Jan (TBC)

The in vacuum components also need further work during the above visit. The lens that lost alignment during commissioning was also found to be more severley damaged than anticipated - the B4C guard is cracked and this deposited some fragments under the lens. All lens cassettes will be exchanged, rebuilt and realigned in Jan.

The patch panel has been removed for rework (to switch motor direction)

The Be lenses seem to be in exactly the same condition as 'new'

 Dear all,

contrary to the rumor that I spread last Tuesday in the PBS meeting, the magnet tests in XTD2/4 will be NOT done coming Monday and therefore the XTD10 will be be NOT open. It is still the plan to have one access day in XTD10 per week in the future (Monday or Wednesday to be clarified with the magnet group), but this will start only later this month.

Best regards

Harald

Dear All,

In XTD10 there are now office network ports available in each rack. These can be used to connect your regular laptops with a network cable without special configuration and registration of your laptop.

The list of racks and corresponding port numbers is listed below. Please, note that in lead racks (3.4, 3.7, and 3.13) you need to plug the cable directly to the office switch port 24. This port is located in the bottom row, most to the right.

  408   26 Oct 2017, 17:34 Tobias HaasXTD10InformationXTD10 closed and interlocked

The SASE3 tunnel XTD10 was searched by Janni and her team and interlocked about one hour ago.

It is now almost ready for first lasing in SASE3:

  • The vacuum is completely connected and closed from V0 all the way to the end
  • All valves, pumps and gauges are included in the PLC loop and can be controlled from Karabo
  • The gas attenuator section was completely tested and is also under PLC control. The turbos are isolated from the rest of the vacuum and put into a safe state
  • All three DPS's are operational, tested and included
  • All imagers are operational
  • The XGM vacuum is part of the general vacuum and controlled and monitored from KARABO
  • The interlocks of the DPSs were succesfully tested

In order to allow beam, it is estimated that one access with approximately 8h would be needed to sort out some remaining smaller issues

I would like to thank the entire team from Vacuum, Optics, Diagnostics, AE and CAS for the big effort and in particular C. Youngman for coordinating.

  344   26 Jul 2017, 10:35 Adriano ViolanteXHEXPInformationStatus after 9.30 Meeting

General

  • Today the machine is being prepared to lase with 30 bunches in order to allow the radiation measurements in SASE1 Exp. Hall on Thursday and Friday.
  • Today GUI will be down for a couple of minutes at 11.30 to allow modifications of the servers for bugs fixing.
  • Specific SASE1 areas will be off limits during the test, scheduled for    SPB OPT 27.07.17   12:00-16:00 ,  SPB EXP 28.07.17 9:00-15:00   and  FXE 03.08.17  9:00-15:00.  Please address Eric Boyd's presentation for details. A mail reminder will be also sent to notify the beginning and ending of the tests.
  • The machine will be running with 30 bunches during the test and with 1 bunch during the night. Since no EPS is implemented, screens and sensitive components need to be taken out during the 30 bunches operation.
  • New version of Karabo ready to be deployed. The time slot when this will happen will be discussed on Friday,
  • Screens controlled by Karabo cannot be read from DOOCS. The Karabo/DOOCS interface problems will be be addressed with high priority by CAS.

XTDs

  • Fast valve in XTD9 still has issues with noise. Issue will be addressed tomorrow with AE support.

FXE

  • The detector group is updating the firmware for the LPD to fix the trigger signal problems. A test on just 1 quadrant will be done today together with ITDM
  • Interlock implementation in Loop 1 ongoing.

SPB

  • Integration of the turbo pumps in  the VAC loop ongoing. Interlock possible.
  • Chiller control being included in Loop 5 - Crate has been modified this morning. Loop will be updated checking that this will not stop the turbo pumps.
  • SMARACT motors being implemented. First motor is ready to be tested today after hardware problems have been fixed.
  • Work on in vacuum interlock in SPB ongoing.
  • The ELMO controllers for the motors of the liquid jet manipulator in Loop 13 should be brought and ready by CW 32. AE working on that.
  345   26 Jul 2017, 14:10 Bernard BaranasicXHEXPInformationSPB - Loop 5 is back online

SPB Loop 5 is back online:

- but without crate BKF00095-SPB_IRU_CHL (there is missmatch of hardware and documentation (investigation is ongoin)),

- pumps: PUMP_TURBO4, PUMP_TURBO5, PUMP_TURBO8, PUMP_ROOT_1, PUMP_ROOT_2 ,PUMP_ROOT_3 and IRU_VAC/PUMP_ROOT_1  are without serial connection

Interlock is inlcuded and ready for testing.

Best Regards,

Bernard

347   27 Jul 2017, 15:42 Eric BoydXHEXPInformationRestricted areas Durring Radiation Measurements of SASE 1, Friday 28.07

No radiation measurements have taken place today (27.07) due to insufficent energy of the machine. We think we can achive the desired energy by tomorrow morning at which time the SRP group will attemtp to commission both the SPB OPT and SPB EXP hutch. The attached presentation shows the new expected time schedule.

A log book entry will be made when area restriction goes into affect and when it is lifted.

348   28 Jul 2017, 11:10 Eric BoydXHEXPInformationNo Restricted Areas for Radiation Commissioning

Desired parameters where reached for radiation measurments of the SPB OPT and SPB EXP hutches. Radiaiton could not be detected inside the hutch with the beam shutters open and beam verified hitting the target, therefore it was not deemed necessary to take radiation measurments outside the hutches. As a result there are no additional access restrictions in SASE 1.

353   03 Aug 2017, 10:52 Eric BoydXHEXPInformationNo Radiation Measurements in SASE 1 This week

Do to repairs that need to be made with the cold compressor. We will be unable to perform Radiation Hutch Commissioning for SASE 1 this week. We will attempt to reschedule the Measurments for Thursday or Friday (10.08 or 11.08) of next week, depending on if it can be coordinated with all involved parties.

There is no restricted access to SASE 1 until then.
