Title:
Dynamic response of water molecules to a ultra-intense X-ray beam
Abstract:

We will study sequential multiple ionization of water. We will employ a photon energy of 1 keV, well above the O 1s threshold, and monitor the charge distribution thus created. It will be possible to strip the molecule of all its electrons by photoelectron-Auger cycles. The creation of multiply charged ions will imply rich nuclear dynamics that we will follow by looking at the fragmentation patterns of the H2On+ ions thus formed. In particular, we will perform ion-ion multicoincidence studies to shed light on which type of structural evolution occurs in the multiply charged species.
